What is the ICD Directors Register?

The ICD Directors Register is a member benefit service that assists members to improve their governance skills and experience, through visibility about open board opportunities within Canada.

Do I need to be a graduate of the DEP to access the Directors Register?

No. The Directors Register is a member benefit service available to all members in good standing.

How does it work?

Members create a comprehensive profile and have access to view the ICD registry of open board positions. Should an opportunity be of interest, members apply to them directly.

ICD also provides a service to organizations or individuals to conduct confidential searches based on set criteria.

ICD does not take responsibility for members or non-members securing board opportunities and/or securing placements.

How many positions does the ICD receive?

The ICD, through its network, actively markets the opportunity to post open board roles to its 700 strong member board members and externally to non-member organizations.

Its an evergreen list of board roles and new opportunities are being added constantly. Members may subscribe to alerts to be notified as opportunities arise.

What kinds of boards use the Directors Register?

ICD receives opportunities from organizations in the for-profit, NFP/Charities and Crown sectors.

Does anyone have access to my director profile?

No. Any information provided is secure and only accessible by you through your member log-on ID. Your profile is only sent by you, when you apply for a board role.

How does the confidential matching process work?

Periodically, the ICD is asked to screen its Directors Register databank for members against specific criteria and provide a potential slate of candidates for review.

If you have indicated you are interested in a specific type of board role and have given us permission to share your profile with perspective boards, the ICD will confidentially send your profile to the organization for review, providing you meet the criteria the organization is seeking.

Members would not be notified each time their profile is search or submitted. The organization will reach out to you directly if they are interested in your director skills.

How does the ICD protect my data?

ICD takes the protection of your information seriously. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for details. For confidential searches, ICD requires the organization or individual to uphold terms outlined in terms and conditions.
